A1073 Spalding to Eye pipeline diversions

It included two 150m diversions at separate locations on the No.2 and No.4 feeder gas transmission pipelines, connecting to the existing main at both ends and grouting or uplifting the abandoned sections.

This encompassed:

  • A pre-construction survey
  • Trial holes, scraping of the crowns at the tie-ins and analysis reports
  • Setting out pipelines and protecting existing feeders
  • Top soil stripping and excavation of connection pits
  • Stringing
  • Welding
  • Removing the ends of the phase one sealed pipe sections for re-use by National Grid
  • Excavating, lowering, laying and hydrostatically testing the new pipeline diversion sections, cold cut, tie-in and degaussing
  • Radiography
  • Assisting with isolating and purging the existing pipeline sections
  • Grouting old pipelines and seals
  • Reinstating the ground as appropriate
  • Assisting with purging and re-commissioning pipelines
